Earth Day 2015

Williamsburg Court - Tuesday, April 21, 2015

When is Earth Day 2015? According to the Old Farmer's Almanac this observance always falls on April 22. On Earth Day, enjoy the tonic of fresh air, contact with the soil, and companionship with nature! Walk through the woods in search of emerging wildflowers and green moss. Go outside, no matter what the weather is doing!

Ever wonder how Earth Day started? This observance arose from an interest in gathering national support for environmental issues. In 1970, San Francisco activist John McConnell and Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson separately asked Americans to join a grassroots demonstration. McConnell chose the spring equinox (March 21, 1970) and Nelson chose April 22. Millions of people participated, and today Earth Day continues to be widely celebrated with events on both dates. The most common practice of celebration is to plant new tress for Earth Day.

What will you do this year to celebrate Earth Day?

Holocaust Memorial Days 2015

Williamsburg Court - Wednesday, April 15, 2015

Holocaust remembrance week is April 12-19th. Holocaust Remembrance Day is the nation's annual commemoration of the Holocaust victims which had an estimated death toll of more than 6 million people in the mass murder campaign during World War II.

Each year state and local governments, workplaces, military bases, religious organizations, schools, and civic centers host observances and remembrance activities for their communities. These events usually occur during the Week of Remembrance, which runs from the Sunday before Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom Hashoah) through the following Sunday.

Is Mother Nature playing a joke???

Williamsburg Court - Thursday, April 09, 2015

I would sure love to know what's going on in the mind of Mother Nature! How we can go from having temperatures in the mid to high 60's one day to the next day having freezing rain and temperatures in the mid to low 30's???

I for one, cannot wait to hear the birds chirping in the morning and see all the beautiful flowers. Whether Mother Nature is going to finally allow spring to arrive or not, why not try to bring the Spring feelings alive yourself by sprucing up your living space? By adding a few simple items such as fresh flowers or a splash of color in your decor it will surely help brighten the cold winter blues that we are all going through.

Here's to wishing for warmer weather and beautiful sunny days ahead.
